Tipical Charlie
Welcome to Tipical Charlie, a repository of all kinds of tips related to computing, from web developer and technologist, Charlie Arehart.
I'll mostly share my own tips that I've found others enjoyed hearing about. I'll welcome tips from others, too.

Creating a searchable archive of an email-based mailing list, free and safely!

posted Wednesday, 28 September 2005

Do you belong to an email mailing list where the owner has not set up any searchable archive? Here's a solution to that problem.

In a previous entry I discussed how you could create a mailing list to keep in youch with your friends, family, and colleagues.

But what if already belong to a mailing list, especially classic ones that are really emali-only (rather than a web-based mechanism like yahoo/google groups), where the owner of the list hasn't created any searchable archive? That can be a real bummer. I frequently have seen people lament it and ask the owner to please create one.

Here's good news, you don't need to wait for them to do that anymore! In another blog I write, I just added this entry that will discuss it in detail (and explains how the service successfully addresses possible privacy concerns):
